On Wednesday 24 June, two catastrophic earthquakes struck near Caracas, Venezuela, within seconds of each other. Buildings collapsed in minutes, leaving widespread destruction across the country.
As communities begin the long road to recovery, the Catholic Church across Venezuela is working together to support those most affected. Archbishop Jesús González de Zarate, President of the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference, shares how the Church has responded since the disaster.
This is a time for us all to feel deeply united in prayer for those who have been directly affected, and for our entire country, which is today suffering the consequences of this major earthquake.
